Burnout (an acrostic poem)

Before the roof collapsed in, scattering shards of flame high into the night

Uncle Raymond removed the last of his pets, a goldfish named Mikey

Rachel laughed that Mikey was swimming in Uncle Raymond’s snow boot

Nifty Idea?” he asked holding up his prize.  “It was the only thing I could grab to use.”

Olivia, Raymond’s second wife could only cry silently as the sirens cried aloud

Until that moment, Rachel though everything would be okay, just like Mikey

That changed as Olivia’s tears fell to the parched earth
