Ignorance (an acrostic poem)

I look at the strange colorful fluid in front of me

Giving it a sniff I am confused

Never before have I smelled such a thing

Ordinarily I would just pass this opportunity up

Reality is the person handing it to me is so hot

And I really want a chance to go home with them

Now you might say I am a fool for even contemplating this

Certainly you would probably be right

Even I wondered as I closed my eyes and chugged it down

Starlight (an acrostic poem)

Standing in a drizzle of ancient photons

Thinking of the vast distances they had traveled

Announcing their presence on my retina

Revealing their origin in the universe

Losing myself in that moment

I lay back opening my parched eyes

Gazing even deeper back in time

Hoping one day I could gaze so far back

That I could see the birth of my atoms

Grammar (an acrostic poem)

Gifting the world with your awesome thoughts

Reaching deep you crafted the perfect haiku

As you hit publish, you sit back waiting for the praise to roll in

Meanwhile thousands of people wonder about you

Many let you know about the difference between your and you’re

Already too late to retract the mistake, you stamp your foot down

Ranting that it was fine since true writers no when to brake the rules

Stumble (an acrostic poem)

Slipping beneath the sheets, Martha reviewed her day

Too many regrets greeted her observations

Useless tossing and turning commenced

Martha watched minutes slip by as she snuggled up with those regrets

Blaming herself for every little thing she had done

Little things that most people wouldn’t lose sleep over

Especially that little glass of wine, but that was one glass too far

Incomplete (an acrostic poem)

I stare into the distance looking for solace

Not finding any, not that I expected to

Carrying my weary soul, I trudge on

Ordinarily each step would bring me closer

Maybe that is just a myth I tell myself

People see me, but not the me I see

Let it all go, they say.  Let my soul sleep I say

Eternal bliss from the lack of solace

Terminal hope in the face of life

Every day I live without you I stare into the distance
