Throwing away morality
Removing my humanity
Allowing me to think rationally
Sending shivers into those around me
Hell hath no fury like me

Leaving her behind was for the best
Only it still hurt like hell
Never was the right thing so difficult to do
Eventually she would accept that fact
Why else was he driving away still in his rented tux
Only a fool would give up on the best thing that ever happened to him
Love was forever, but he on the other hand
Forever free, forever the fool
Dreading what it might mean, Buck headed to HR
It didn’t make him feel any better that his supervisor told him not to worry
Reality was Buck was unsure of how much he wanted to be working there
Everything might be for the best if they canned him

Silently the stars witnessed Dave’s accomplishment
He lit the lights on the old apple tree
It would complete the ritual set in motion fifty years ago
No one knew the reason why it was so important to Dave
Everyone did enjoy the fruit of his labor

Giving your soul away was such a small sacrifice to you
It allowed you to have everything you ever wanted in return
Fatally you weren’t able to enjoy any of it
Till death came as a present you accepted gratefully

Sarah checked her watch for the fifth time
Tom was now officially late and in her doghouse
All she asked of him was to take an interest in the kids
Be on time
Insofar as she could tell
Leaving the kids with him was a crap shoot
If he didn’t show up soon she would call the police
That’s how pissed off she was
Yet she did chuckle when he showed up dressed as Santa
To all the people brought together today
Unified in a vision of thankfulness
Remember those that can’t make it home
Knowing they are where they need to be
Even if they want to be almost anywhere else
You should lift a drumstick in their honor

Counting my blessings, one by one
Until I realized how full my life has been
Simple calculus that comforts me
Perhaps I’ve reached the apex of life?

Beating heart held in my hand
Everything slowed down to the moments between contractions
Smiling I looked into the eyes of my victim
Too bad he thought he was the ….
In case you missed it, the world ended today
Cold temperatures descended harder than a lead curtain, freezing my motivation
You see, I have to explain my not working somehow
