Tread (an acrostic poem)

The sensation of someone’s foot stomping down on her was all too real

Reducing her to a bundle of pulsating overstimulated nerves

Even getting out of bed on those days was met with dread

And yet she kept working on surviving day after day

Damned if she wasn’t willing to bite back

Sling (an acrostic poem)

So it was a David versus Goliath affair

Liam felt his hopes dangling on the edge of a cliff

If he ever lost faith that he had a chance

Nobody would fault him, but

Giving his shoulders a heave he walked over and asked her out

Misfit (an acrostic poem)

Maybe I would fit in if he just compromised a little bit

If he could be just a bit more flexible with his morals

Shift a bit in his political views one direction or another

Find a niche where the contrast grayed out just a bit more

It would make things so much easier in life

The fact that that would break him leaves him with no choice and loneliness

Ornament (an acrostic poem)

Oscar proudly walked down the red carpet with Sasha on his arm

Rarely had the whirl of cameras and flashes popping been so soothing to his nerves

Now if it were a normal day he would be duck and covering

Always trying to avoid unwanted attention

Many times it was inevitable and he just had to bite his tongue

Even when the paparazzi grew belligerent

Nearing the head of the line he pasted on his million-dollar smile

The fact he was Sasha’s ‘and one’ never bothered him.  He liked being arm candy

Wild (an acrostic poem)

When they told her to calm down, she amped it up

If they told her to wait a minute, she went faster

Looking back was never an option; she just kept her eyes to the future

Determined was how she viewed herself, others thought she was…

Legend (an acrostic poem)

Little more could be said, much less done

Everyone just stared as she walked across the floor

Gwen had accomplished the nigh impossible

Eyewitnesses would spread her story from here

New tales even more fanciful would be spun from the cloth of this truth

Destiny can kiss her ass.  She owned that bitch

Overgrown (an acrostic poem)

Overrun with emotions of ineptitude and incompetence

Vines of insecurity choked off what little emotional growth there was

Everything she wanted to do just seemed so hard to even start

Really it was just easier to sit there on her phone

Going from post to post on Instagram excessively and living vicariously

Reaching to hit the heart button but not meaning it

Outside she appeared so normal

When inside she hadn’t seen the sun in so long

Now the ever-present shade just felt right.

Dragon (an acrostic poem)

Darwin hefted his heavy crossbow and took aim

Randy was distracting the wyrm with his stupid antics

Allowing Darwin a chance to strike the killing blow

Got to hit it through the eye and into the brainpan

One in a million shot, even at the best of times, but Darwin knew he was better than that

Never counted on the beast blinking.  Darwin never felt the flames

Snow (an acrostic poem)

I decided to do the Inktober Challenge in my own way.  I am going to try to do an acrostic for each Inktober prompt.  Hence the topic for today.

So the air took on a decisive chill

Now was the time to put away the mower and find the shovel

October wasn’t too early to prepare because who knew

When the white stuff would begin to fall
