Grateful (an acrostic poem)

Giving thanks is an everyday event

Really it should be moment to moment

At least we set a day aside to remind us to do so

Tempering the hectic pace of life

Enabling friends and family a moment to pause

For every day is truly a gift, each sunrise a blessing

Until that sun doesn’t rise for you anymore

Long may you live and be …

Useless (an acrostic poem)

Until her twenty-third birthday, Abagail thought she was special

She would walk around like the queen she knew she had to be

Everything changed when she met Chuck

Love left her vulnerable, lowered her confidence

Esteem shrunk under Chuck’s manipulative eye

Soon she was relegated to being just his wife and not his partner

She told herself it was for the best.  Otherwise, she would be ….

Duck (an acrostic poem)

Despite feeling pretty fowl

Uncle Daffy was out hunting

Couldn’t find a single deer, just a damn rabbit

Killing the bunny might have been satisfying, but they weren’t in season

Lip Stick (an acrostic poem)

Luscious ruby red pucker

It called to him to get close

Perhaps to brush her with his

Still, he kept his distance

The idea of that oily makeup on his face

It kind of freaked him out

Couldn’t she wash it off

Keeping everything perfectly natural

Dig Deep (an acrostic poem)

Down and out is not in her vocabulary.

If anything, it just means get your hands dirty,

Get up, and swing for the fences.

Determined to rise like the phoenix of old,

Even if every part of her soul screamed in pain

Even after getting kicked back down again and again

Pushing past that finish line proved she had it within her

Silver (an acrostic poem)

Second place might be first loser

It might even be the most frustrating since you were that close

Leaving you wondering what more you could have done

Viewing life that way makes it so frustrating

Everyone fails to win all the time

Remember that and be happy when you medal
