Leaving it all behind was going to be hard

Everyone knew her name, her story

Giving up everything to save their nation and their world

Eventually losing her left eye and arm in the dragon’s fire

Now she quietly sits in the town square every day and enjoys what sun there is

Determined to let her legacy pass into myth and…

Perhaps he should just conform to the pirates’ code

And just wear the basic black

That would make things so much easier

Considering how much he loved to stand out, though

He put back on the rhinestone studded one, even though it hurt because it looked fabulous!

Clash (an acrostic poem)

Crashing together in mortal combat

Leaving corpses in our wake

As we fight towards the gates of Hell

Soon we are against those blackened iron spikes

Here we will make our eternal stand

Shooting ideas onto the whiteboard

Plastering it with colorful words and diagrams

Leaving a chaotic schematic of creativity

And yet this work of art is unfinished

That’s why it is a blessing when it is erased, left waiting for the next time

Extinct (an acrostic poem)

Every single one of them were gone

X marked the spot where the last one had died

That seemed such a minor thing at the time, and yet

It was the beginning of the end for the rest of us

Now I stand here to make another monument

Chiseling an X using my fingernails on the spot I stand

This is where the last of us will take their final breathe

Open (an acrostic poem)

Outside she was closed, boarded up with locks and everything

People passing by saw there was absolutely no way in

Except that one guy that came by every day and sat there and listened

Now they are each other’s happily ever after

Collide (an acrostic poem)

Coming violently together was their usual M.O.

Obliterating everyone and everything around them with such a release of energy

Love contains almost limitless potential energy waiting to be continuously released, but…

Lust was a poor substitute with so many limits

It would be expended so quickly in a blink of an eye

Deforming each of their spirits, leaving permanent dents therein

Eventually becoming as cold as the void that remained.
