Laugh (an acrostic poem)

Little giggles slipped from his lips

As she bent over into a full belly guffaw

Under the withering gaze of the priest, they tried to compose themselves

Guests looked aghast and that sent the couple into another fit of snickers

How come everyone didn’t get the joke of “Till death do us part.”

Radiate (an acrostic poem)

Revealing light streams over the landscape

Abstract shapes resolve into the finite

Dictating reality to manifest yet again

It warmed her heart every time it happened

As the sun slowly eased itself above the threshold of the horizon

The green flash announcing its next jaunt across the sky

Exciting her eyes with the potential of a new chance, a new day

Breathing in sync with the bass drum

Every nerve on fire with the energy of the guitar solo

As her feet began to move to the groove

That was a problem when she saw the flashing lights in her rearview mirror

Trend (an acrostic poem)

The second time bell bottoms became a thing

Really made me like, well, gag me with a spoon

Eventually we were all flossed out dancing

Now instead of couples doing “Netflix and chill”

Dogs will be enjoying “barkitecture”

Sphere (an acrostic poem)

Suns spun in their gravitational dance around the galaxy

Planets pulled around and around each of those hot balls of nuclear fire

How amazing it was that the cosmic dance continued since time eternal

Every clear night she looked up at the dancers above

Reveling in the opportunity to study the performance

Embracing the challenge of cyphering out the music

She loved astrophysics

Corner (an acrostic poem)

Couldn’t stand being put in one when she was young

Objecting to the degrading idea of facing the epitome of a box

Realizing she never wanted to be inside that construct ever again

Now she does her own thing while society fiddles and burns

Energized knowing she is living her best life

Regretting that the rest of humanity decided not to follow her and stayed in the …

Starlight (an acrostic poem)

Image: p0.piqsels.com/preview/6/405/273/117kobnrde5ip3kjqhaqbd6l3a.jpg

Stars send speeding photons flying through the nothingness

To land blissfully on my eyes as I look heavenward

Awestruck at the age of the light that graced me

Realizing a small chunk of ancient history

Looking at a place that might not exist anymore

It causes me to pause, wondering what I am casting into the void around me

Giving life to something that will outlast my stay in this universe

Hoping that someone will gaze upon that something and be inspired

To create their own light and cast it into the unknown
