Liquid rock sprinkles fell down from above
And where it landed, flames erupted
Voluminous black smoke billowed skyward
Ash rained for miles, drenching the earth in foulness
Liquid rock sprinkles fell down from above
And where it landed, flames erupted
Voluminous black smoke billowed skyward
Ash rained for miles, drenching the earth in foulness
Revealing light streams over the landscape
Abstract shapes resolve into the finite
Dictating reality to manifest yet again
It warmed her heart every time it happened
As the sun slowly eased itself above the threshold of the horizon
The green flash announcing its next jaunt across the sky
Exciting her eyes with the potential of a new chance, a new day
Suns spun in their gravitational dance around the galaxy
Planets pulled around and around each of those hot balls of nuclear fire
How amazing it was that the cosmic dance continued since time eternal
Every clear night she looked up at the dancers above
Reveling in the opportunity to study the performance
Embracing the challenge of cyphering out the music
She loved astrophysics
Focusing on what caused him to tremble
Embracing the terror he held in his hand
Allowed him to rise above that base emotion and use it to his advantage
Reaching for the top of the box he opened it and asked, “Will you marry me?”
When the hands swept past noon
All eyes were drawn to the two men standing in the street
Today only one of them would walk away
Capping a monumental story of conflict between two protagonists
High above, the bells chimed out, punctuated by two percussive blasts, and then dead silence
Stars do their ballet dance
High above her head
It gives her goosebumps
Nighttime performances like this were awe inspiring
Especially as some performers blazed across the stage
All he wanted was to be at the top of the mountain
Being able to show his superiority to those below him
Only those he wanted to bow to him didn’t see him that way
Vowing that he was nothing but a balloon filled with ego and hot air
Even though that hurt him, he laughed. That hot air and ego allowed him to float up high.
So many distant suns twinkling as they watch from above
They escort the night across the sky
Arriving at the horizon to be relieved of their duty
Resting till called upon as their little sister fades to black
Silent sentries stoic in their duty

Determined to get one more thing done
Rachel ignored the warning signs and barreled on
If she had just paid more attention
Viewing the road ahead enabled her to achieve above and beyond
Engine light went unnoticed until its prophecy came true
