Travel (an acrostic poem)

The ability to go where you want when you want was so curtailed

Reduced to going to and fro between rooms in your own place

And that was a dream luxury if you lived a studio apartment

Viewing those same four walls every day, day in, day out, hour after hour

Eventually even the strongest of will would start to feel incarcerated

Leaving one to make marks on the wall to mark doing your COVID time

Clean Up (an acrostic poem)

Confounded by all the dirt and grime

Leon threw down his mop and sunk to the floor

Eleven hours from now his mother would be visiting

And everything will be scrutinized for perfection

Now he knew that perfection wasn’t going to happen

Ursula swept into the apartment, but all she did was give Leon a hug

Pushing aside the dirt and grime of his worries and making his smile sparkle

Parallel (an acrostic poem)

Paisley never goes with stripes

Ashley screamed inside her head

Rachel insisted the apartment by funky

All different styles and patterns

Leaving Ashley’s patience as scattered as the array of furniture

Looking around the room, Rachel exclaimed, “Perfection.”

Every last scrap of hope plunged into darkness for Ashley

Looking down the double barrels of a design shotgun, Ashley bit the bullet.
