Tempo (an acrostic poem)

The faster he beat the air, the more chaotic they seemed to play.

Everyone following their own beat, toes tapping in irregular rhythms.

Melody and harmony intertwined in ways not intended by any involved in its creation.

Pushing those in the audience to cringe and squirm in their seats.

Obviously, the following ovation was intense.  The musicians were kids after all.

Lasts (an acrostic poem)

Lacking his dialog cue, he marched in a circle

As he muttered incomprehensibly to himself

So it was surprising when he stopped and told everyone to shush

The silence stretched on forever.

So long that when he said his line the audience and cast gave him an ovation.

Bashing the drums into a cacophony of percussion

Evoking primal emotions from the audience

Augmenting the movements of the partygoers

Till all their bodies pulsed together as one to the…

Frown (an acrostic poem)

Finding upside down smiles scattered among the audience

Richard tried to make a quick joke to lighten the mood

Only it didn’t work, and more people joined the unhappy camp

When he decided one more time, they started to angrily yell at him

Nobody warned him that practicing his startup at a funeral was going to be such a bad idea

Actor (an acrostic poem)

All she ever let them see was her screen face

Cold, aloof, mysteriously beautiful

The fact is she was scared, scarred, and so plain was something to hide

Oh there were times she thought about letting go of the persona and just be

Reality was she was too committed to her craft to let her audience down

Trick (an acrostic poem)

The magician pulled up her sleeves and pulled out her bestest smile

Reaching out she produced the deck of cards out of thin air

It amazed the onlookers, but that was just the appetizer

Crafting more magic she took her audience on a journey, but suddenly they disappeared

Keeping her eyes closed, she wished the dream never had to end

Goals (an acrostic poem)

Gratification was Mary’s idea of winning

Ordinarily she was focused on herself since she knew that audience

And now should be no different, and yet

Looking into the puppy’s eyes melted her heart

So her new mission in life was to help that pup live to the fullest
