So, he looked for hidden meanings in everything around him

It made him paranoid he might miss something that would lead to a preventable catastrophe

Going through life on tiptoe meant that finding anything underfoot caused him to lose mental balance

Now if he only saw that earlier, he might have enjoyed what that foretold

Shift (an acrostic poem)

So it was time to work, but he didn’t want to

How was he supposed to do this for the rest of his active life

If he waited until he could retire, he would be too old to do anything fun

F his boss and all the talk about work-life balance

The fact that he punched the timeclock and not his supervisor was a miracle

Height (an acrostic poem)

How high in the air was he right now?

Everything looked like it was so far away

It made him giggle with glee.

Gesturing he asked her, “Is this how you see everything?”

Her slap to his shoulder threw him off balance.  “Why did you do that?”

That’s when she took her glasses off his face.

Born to teeter-totter through life

Always trying to find equilibrium

Longing to stay in the center

And yet we usually over compensate

Now we smash side to side farther and farther as we get older

Considering it a right of passage imparting some magical wisdom and yet

Eventually we all fall down

Raise (an acrostic poem)

Remembering all that has been lost

As well as all that we have gained

It is times like these that balance looking forward and back

Seeing this particular snapshot in each of our lives

Entices us to lift our glasses in a toast.  Here’s to you, my reader.

Justice (an acrostic poem)

Jurisprudence usually didn’t make Michelle laugh

Under normal circumstances, people’s lives hung into balance

Still, something about the state vs. a pair of puppies made her laugh

They did destroy a bunch of stuffed animals

In the photos, you could see the joy the two pups had in their crime spree

Cuteness would only get them and their owner so far

Eventually, the law would prevail, but would it just be a newspaper slap on the nose?

Balance (an acrostic poem)

Begin your journey with the blessing of desire

Always want to experience the adventure

Live in every moment along the way

And if something bad happens, remember the end goal

Never lose sight of that.  Get up, dust yourself off and continue

Can’t make it to the end?  Then find a new spot on the horizon and go

Equilibrium in all things, except in life experience.  There seize everything
