Legend (an acrostic poem)

Little more could be said, much less done

Everyone just stared as she walked across the floor

Gwen had accomplished the nigh impossible

Eyewitnesses would spread her story from here

New tales even more fanciful would be spun from the cloth of this truth

Destiny can kiss her ass.  She owned that bitch

Catching Up (an acrostic poem)

Cat and mouse described Nat’s relationship with her peers

At least that’s how Nat saw it

To be the mouse was tiring, but Nat put up with it

Coming to grips with being a target was built into her persona

Having success from an early age was a mixed blessing

Inspiration to some, a threat to most in this male dominated world

Never really at easy in the power dynamic

Given that women were still looked at as either being subservient or a bitch

Until men would stop pawing her figuratively or physically

Perhaps she would need to become the cat in this relationship
