Energy (an acrostic poem)

Eventually the tiredness had to break, right?

No way he could be this tired for this long.

Everything seemed such an effort, even blinking!

Reaching for his sixth Monster, he pounded it back.

Going to be a long shift tonight. Good thing he had a twelve pack.

Yet he wondered if that would be enough.

Blur (an acrostic poem)

Blinking, trying to bring it into focus, but fails

Leaving the image muddy and obscured

Unable to clarify what was happening, she put on her glasses

Realizing that being old was the only thing she could see clearly in the morning

Dragon (an acrostic poem)

Darwin hefted his heavy crossbow and took aim

Randy was distracting the wyrm with his stupid antics

Allowing Darwin a chance to strike the killing blow

Got to hit it through the eye and into the brainpan

One in a million shot, even at the best of times, but Darwin knew he was better than that

Never counted on the beast blinking.  Darwin never felt the flames

Space Travel (an acrostic poem)

Stars stare without blinking

Putting me ill at ease as I float here

And wonder if I will ever feel solid ground beneath my feet again

Can’t believe those brilliant blue skies are so long gone

Everything out there is so black

To be an interstellar adventurer

Really should be so much more exciting

And it was two years ago, but now?

Viewing the infinite from inside my craft

Everything just seems so small and too large at the same time

Leaving me to wonder why I booked this flight

Block (an acrostic poem)

Barb looked at the empty white screen in front of her

Little cursor blinking, mocking her inability

Of course earlier in the day she had pages and pages of story

Couldn’t remember a single sentence now

Killing her motivation completely

Crashed (an acrostic poem)

Cody hit the wall, then he hit the Monster Energy Drink

Rallying his remaining reserves, Cody began to code some more

As he pounded the keys, Cody realized he was even thinking in code

Still, he could feel the friction of lethargy begin to slow his neurons

He doubled down, blinking away at the ever growing wave of exhaustion

Everything became a blur, but Cody pushed even harder

Didn’t realize a keyboard could leave such an imprint on his drool  drenched cheek
