Plunger (an acrostic poem)

Penelope looked at her kids and shook her head

Loving them was usually so easy, even if they were little witches

Until they broke something.  This time it was the toilet

Now she needed to put on her rubber gloves and pull out her weapon of choice

Going into the bathroom, she stopped in her tracks for a second

Everything was covered!

Readying for her weapon, she battled the summoned demon back down the bowl and flushed.

Cereal (an acrostic poem)

Couldn’t start her morning without the stuff

Everyday was a bowl or two of sugary goodness

Really it was also a bowl for lunch, and maybe one for a late night snack

Eventually she realized she was an addict

And tried to quit cold turkey, but that didn’t end well

Locked up after freebasing all the Captain Crunch at Walmart

Stubbed (a 150 word story)

Jeremy felt a sharp stabbing pain in his big toe.  “What the hell!” he exclaimed under his breath.  That might have hurt, but his dad mode was turned up to eleven since he had finally gotten the kids to bed.  They needed so much coddling and consoling to get them there.  He knew he didn’t want to go through that again if he could help it.

He looked down to see what he had jammed his toe into and there was the stainless steel dog bowl.

“Damn it all.  I thought I told the kids to pick that up.”

Then the realization hit him.  He slumped to the floor next to the bowl and tears threatened to flow.  He took out the Milk-Bones box from the cupboard next to him.  He grabbed one out and looked at it.  The tears were flowing freely, and he now allowed himself to grieve.
