Salty (an acrostic poem)

Seasoning was the key to all great cooking

And he wanted to be known as a Master Chef

Leaving the galley kitchen, he went on deck and breathed in the sea air

That’s when one of the junior officers made a snide remark about breakfast

Yelling obscenities back was probably not a good idea, he realized, as he washed all the dishes

Bright eyed and bushy tailed was how they described her

Until that one morning she cracked and decided to punish their sin of sloth

Now she took their breakfast, camouflaged it, then hid it, forcing them to work for it

Never again did they miss a sunrise in her house

You could say she was pretty hard boiled after all!

Can’t make it hot enough to please him

He scarfs down whole scotch bonnets for breakfast

I even saw him puree ghost peppers and drink it as a smoothie

Last Superbowl was the topper.  The con carne concoction he brought was pure chemical warfare

Leaving us all to stare in awe and fear as he ate the whole thing without a single sniffle

It did come to no surprise that his intestines eventually got their revenge for his war crimes.

Be tropical, my friends, and call on Saint Belafonte

Allow me to give you a hand with your breakfast to go

Now I know you find me appealing

Ah, but I can be slippery when I’m underfoot

Now come, Mr. Tallyman

And tally me, ‘cause daylight come and I want to go home

Blessed (an acrostic poem)

Braving the elements, Lawrence left his condo and walked east

Leaving behind the love of his life and his children

Evening was setting in as the sun dropped below the horizon

Smiling with chattering teeth, he soon came upon his destination

Sliding back into the kitchen, Lawrence began washing his hands

Everyone deserved to have a good breakfast to start the day

Determined to bake fresh bread for those staying at the shelter, he began measuring
