Bunny (an acrostic poem)

Bright eyed and bushy tailed was how they described her

Until that one morning she cracked and decided to punish their sin of sloth

Now she took their breakfast, camouflaged it, then hid it, forcing them to work for it

Never again did they miss a sunrise in her house

You could say she was pretty hard boiled after all!

City (an acrostic poem)

Canyons of concrete, glass, and steel define the urban landscape

Intense neon and fluorescent lights paint the scene in bright brash colors

That pulse with the heartbeat of the millions who live there

Yet she sat on the roof in the middle of it all, as alone as the moon that traveled overhead

Bulky (an acrostic poem)

Being a ballerina had always been his dream

Underneath the bright lights, dancing en pointe

Looking into infinity as he bounded across the stage

Knowing he was the center of everyone’s attention

Yet he knew that being a hippopotamus was going to make it difficult

Sparkle (an acrostic poem)

She wanted to feel special

Puckering up she put on her bright red lipstick

And her dazzling blue eyeliner

Reaching for her glittery teal eye shadow, she applied it liberally

Knowing it was almost time for her date, she began to get excited…

Liam smiled when he saw his twelve-year-old daughter make her entrance

Everything she did shouted how important she was to him.  Their dinner together was going to be special.

Chalk (an acrostic poem)

Calcium carbonate dyed bright colors

Has been applied to sidewalks and parking lots

A message of thankfulness and hope

Left for those on the front lines of this epidemic

Keeping a smile on their masked faces

Neon (an acrostic poem)

Now the sign glowed with a bright pink light

Exposing the words Bubba’s Emporium in an alluring cursive

Oh how I wanted to see what was inside

Not that I ever got my chance since I was only fourteen at the time

Glare (an acrostic poem)

Gazing into the bright light

Left him feeling quite monotone

As all the color left his supersaturated world

Revealing very little detail of what was around him

Everything just seemed more of the same
