Tempest (an acrostic poem)

The look in his eyes forecast a storm of emotions about to hit

Everything to this point had been smooth sailing on calm seas

Mentioning her name, though, had brought a sudden change for the worse

Pushing himself up out of his chair, he leveled a finger

Everyone was quiet, waiting for the lightning bolt of his anger to strike

So when the finger went back down without a word, well everyone thought the worst had past

That’s when he took one step forward and a rain of fists poured down

Bedlam (an acrostic poem)

Bonkers, it’s absolutely bonkers I say.”

Everything is in turmoil?”

Double turmoil, with a cherry on top and a fireball whiskey chaser!”

Let’s calm down for a moment.  What happened?”

All I can say is it involves a fish, a poleaxe, and two large bottles of ammonia.”

Maybe it’s best if I don’t know.  I don’t want to go to jail!”

Hubris (an acrostic poem)

He thought he knew exactly what to do

Until he found out the hardware wouldn’t work

Being too smart for his own good he whipped up something new

Realizing that was a wasted four hours because he had just simply wired the original backwards

It had worked all the time if he had just opened his eyes and slowed down

So much for a calm Sunday

Stable (an acrostic poem)

Image: iims.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/lightning.jpg

She was so well grounded

That the emotional lightning around her would just fizzle out

And left those around her with a sense of calm

But the smell of drama ozone remained

Letting them know how close they had been to being zapped

Everyone wishes they had a friend like that

Thor (an acrostic poem)

Image: img1.cgtrader.com/items/785923/dd8110b580/thor-hammer-the-mjolnir-3d-model-obj-fbx-stl.jpg

The lightning and thunder are at his command

His hand holding a spinning Mjolnir

Outside he looks like he is as calm as the eye of a hurricane

Reality was the true storm was raging inside

Decide (an acrostic poem)

Image: keck.usc.edu/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/prescription-pills.jpg

Determine which pill you are going to take

Engage a chaotic future of tremendous highs and lows by selecting the purple pill

Calm down and have a boring life by selecting the orange pill

It comes down to choice of lifestyle

Don’t ask for a do over, this is a one-time offer world-wide

Everything comes down to this moment.  What do you choose?

Still (an acrostic poem)

Something about sitting down, eyes closed, not moving

The outside slows down and the inside opens up

It allows you to shed the pull of society’s hectic current

Letting you find a spot of calm that is at your core

Leaving you reenergized when you emerge from being…

Hygge (an acrostic poem)

Image: cdn.hswstatic.com/gif/hygge.jpg

Hearth is happily crackling, telling a tale of mirth

Yielding a soft warm glow into the room

Gifting a cozy sense of calm and comfort

Grafting the coming season to your soul

Entombing negative feelings for another time, another place

Doorman (an acrostic conversation)

Do you remember when they didn’t open automatically?”

Of course I do.  I’m older than you, you fool.”

Obviously, look at your lack of hair.”

Really?  I’m going to kick you through one in just a second.”

Man, just calm down.  Back then, people, had jobs opening them.”

And where the hell are you going with this?”

Now my backup career is becoming extinct, and I never got one of the hats.”
