Tempt (an acrostic poem)

There was the dark chocolate truffle right there

Egging him on to consume and enjoy the ephemeral experience

Mustering his willpower, he pushed the candy away

Putting him in touch with its shiny ebony brown exterior, but he got up and walked off

The fact that he licked his fingers as he left was totally not a cave

She was so hungry.  It had been way too long

Now she had lots of opportunities to do something about it

And she sampled a few of the wares offered to her, but none had hit the spot

Candy for the eye almost always left her unsatisfied

Confectionery concoction tempting my sweet tooth

Alluring in its simple primal call

Needless calories prostrate in front of me

Do I give in and experience their rapture?

Giving points out like Halloween candy

Reaching into my bag, I pull out a number

And I drop it onto their paper

Defining their mental capture of my material

It is an inexact science for sure

Now when they get that judged paper back

Going to wonder if they think it’s a trick or a treat

Silently my stomach ambushes me

Not giving me a chance to finish making my meal

All I can think of is how much I want to eat something, anything

Candy soon fills my pie hole, ruining my dinner, but still

Killing my hunger dead in its tracks
