Holding onto her with both hands, not wanting to ever let her go

And yet there she was, spinning away from me, somehow slipping from my grasp

Now I tried to catch her, I tried so hard

Didn’t stand a chance, though

Life slowed down as she fell to the pavement and shattered

Ever since then, I put my cellphone in a case with a…

Didn’t read the fine print of the contract

Of course that’s how a lot of these stories start

Making the rest of the tale about maneuvering out of the inevitable

Enabling our hero to have the last laugh

Now only if that worked in real life

Then I would be so done with these student loans

Catch (an acrostic poem)

Count them.  Twenty-two.  Read ’em and weep.

And that means you busted.  You lost.

That’s not right.  You speak of deceptions.  I always win.  I’m a winner

Can you follow the rules just this once?  You don’t always have to win

Ha!  That’s how a loser speaks.  I won’t fall for your trap!

Cupid struck him right upside his head

Reducing him to a puddle at her feet

Unhinged he lobbed a lopsided grin her direction

She didn’t catch it at all as she focused his wingman

Her mind went to mush as Cupid played his sick game

Balls (an acrostic poem)

Bowling down her competition

Abagail paused to catch her breath

Looking for a sign for where next to strike

Laughing at how they mockingly told her to grow a pair

She threw herself into finishing them off
