Protest (an acrostic poem)

Putting your beliefs out there for all to see

Rallying among people of like mind

Order out of the chaos of the moment

That’s when the cause can gain momentum

Engaging those that were on the fence

Such that the need would codify into a moment written about in history books

That future gatherings would morph into celebration

Divide (an acrostic poem)

Debating merits is a noble cause

If done in good faith, listening to other’s argument

Verifying your stance is what you want to defend

Instead, today we prefer to find our tribe, our island

Denying that the other side might have something to add

Enabling the feedback to build walls that opposing views can not scale

Cram (an acrostic poem)

Can’t decide if I can fit it all in

Ramming in multiple items, trying to make them fit

And realizing that it might be a lost cause

Means my students might not enjoy this test.  Hope they study well and don’t…

Get Paid (an acrostic poem)

Ginny hated volunteering with a passion

Even if it was for an awesome cause like the animal shelter

That’s why she was in such a black mood, but she was there

Patrick came in, happy to see Ginny showed up

As he handed her her favorite coffee he turned up the wattage of his smile

It made Ginny rethink this whole volunteering thing

Dollars weren’t the only currency around
