Order (an acrostic poem)

Out of the chaos, a need for organization grew stronger

Reaching for a list and some boxes, the war began

Dedicating time to the battle, slowly the chaos was pushed back

Except they never saw the betrayal that was about to happen

Right at the moment the house was set straight, they had twins and that’s when chaos won

Fierce (an acrostic poem)

Fools rush in where angels fear to tread was his favorite proverb

It encapsulated his life in ways that spanned from ludicrous to profound

Ever since he was a boy, he would do the near impossible, twist fate into pretzels, and never miss a beat

Reveling in the audacity of the chaos he spread around like seeds from a dandelion caught in a tornado

Could do no wrong, and it was just the way of the universe

Evidently when you held your guardian angel hostage, you could ever be the fool, but were you?

Clogged (an acrostic poem)

Clutter rampaged across his mental landscape

Leaving a mess of chaos that scrambled his thoughts

Old ideas mixed with current observations and new connections

Giving him no chance to respond to her questions

Grimacing all he could do was shrug his shoulders

Everything he wanted to say tried to come out at the same time, allowing nothing to escape his lips

Distraught, he knew that job opportunity was lost

Protest (an acrostic poem)

Putting your beliefs out there for all to see

Rallying among people of like mind

Order out of the chaos of the moment

That’s when the cause can gain momentum

Engaging those that were on the fence

Such that the need would codify into a moment written about in history books

That future gatherings would morph into celebration

Spoon (an acrostic poem)

She cuddled up to him under the covers

Pulling her body along his to get warm

Outside the wind blew and the cold rain fell

Outside the chaos of jobs and bills demanded attention and yet…

None of that mattered.  They were together in that moment

Factory (an acrostic poem)

Focused on manufacturing

And maximizing profits

Creating parts and pieces for consumption

Then spitting them out into the hopefully accepting world

Ordering the chaos of creation into ridged steps

Reaching for peek throughput and yields

Yet that damn Murphy was always on the visitor’s list

Technology (an acrostic poem)

The mathmagicians cast their spell of logic

Electrical and mechanical design engineers took that energy and gave it physical form

Constructing a simulacrum of silicon and glass

Handing it off to the whisperers of binary

Now they coded in the soul and function of the new beast

Ordering the chaos of all the possibilities of this new creation

Lifting it from an inanimate object

Obscuring the line between animated and animator

Giving the world a new fascination that

You can hold in your hand

Mystery (an acrostic poem)

Maybe you think you know what is going on

You think you have the solutions to life’s final exam

Still I wonder if the answer key has even been made yet

There seems so much chaos and disorder

Every time I turn around, I find that my current guess was not quite right

Really most of the time I was flat out wrong.  It gets quite frustrating

Yet still every day I get up and try to solve my little corner of life’s …

Story (an acrostic poem)

Solid pieces of imagination

That are forced into reality through the writer’s skill and anxiety

Order forged out of the chaos of emotions

Released into the world to live or die upon the whims of readers

Yet likely the author will mourn either way

Copious clownfish crowded the reef

Organized chaos of shifting schooling patterns

Racing along the bright bony protrusions

As the sun lazily drifted down through the water

Lighting a piece of aquatic perfection
