Soundlessly floating among clouds of thought

Leaping from one random thing to the next, but trying to create a narrative

Eventually to his sleep-addled brain, it all made sense

Everything a flow of deranged circumstances distilled into a crazy story

Pushing slumber back into consciousness, the construct fades, but the emotional memory remains

Duet (an acrostic poem)

Double her melody, but a third higher they said

Under normal circumstances that would have been a cakewalk

Except she found out the person she was singing with was Mariah Carey

That meant either she needed to find another octave in range or have a car hit her so she could get out of it

Pick (an acrostic poem)

Putting her money where her mouth is was always difficult

It seemed easier to not think and go with her heart in those circumstances

Casting the dice down the green felted table, she closed her eyes

Knowing that whatever happened, her life was going to be changed forever

Trust (an acrostic poem)

The money wasn’t everything. Okay, who was he trying to fool.

Really it was all about the money, but he didn’t have to admit it.

Under normal circumstances he wouldn’t have to work a day in his life.

Such was the life of a fund baby. all thanks to grandma.

That was before he put his faith in his lawyer and that prenup agreement.

Drunk (an acrostic poem)

Downing yet another shot of Jägermeister

Rich felt it hit him right between the eyes

Under normal circumstances, this is where he would stop

Not tonight though, not after she had left him

Knowing it was because he had slept with her best friend, well that didn’t help

Justice (an acrostic poem)

Jurisprudence usually didn’t make Michelle laugh

Under normal circumstances, people’s lives hung into balance

Still, something about the state vs. a pair of puppies made her laugh

They did destroy a bunch of stuffed animals

In the photos, you could see the joy the two pups had in their crime spree

Cuteness would only get them and their owner so far

Eventually, the law would prevail, but would it just be a newspaper slap on the nose?
