Submerged below tons of dirt and rock

Under the people scurrying like insects in metallic carcasses

Believers in mass transit meditated as their bodies gently swayed

Weaving their way through a complex anthill structure

And then regurgitated back up to the surface like zombies risen from the dead

Yearning for homes instead of brains

Cold, cold logic sets fire to my imagination

Oblivious to the pain, I draw out tears of joy

Nothing can stop me but myself

That’s what makes creating so hard.  It’s destroying simple things

Reaching the basic elements and then building complex structures on them

Always digging deeper and climbing higher

Searching for the thing that is always with you

That is the war of the abstract and realism that defines me

Element (an acrostic poem)

Earth, air, fire, water

Life was simpler in the past

Everything was created with those four basic substances

Making up everyone’s reality

Except people knew there was something more

Now we have a periodic table filled with of over one hundred building blocks

That is how life goes, Mr. Watson.  Starts off simple then becomes complex.

Tasty (an acrostic poem)

The aromas of honey and age greeted Kendra’s nostrils

As she opened it up and inhaled deeply

Salivating a bit she smiled and tried to take it all in

The flavors danced and spun such a complex tale

You never knew how good the story would be in an old book
