Rumble (an acrostic poem)

Reaching for the door he stumbled and fell

Under his prone body, the earth danced and shook

Maybe it was the rum shots of rum, but he then saw a painting fall

Being of not-so-sound mind, he laughed at the irony

Liquid courage surged through his veins as he managed to stand again

Except that’s when the house fell around him, so he joined it and cried.

Grain (an acrostic poem)

Growing rows of amber waved in the hot wind

Reaching for one of the sheathes, she pulled the kernels free

And rubbed them against each other in her hands, freeing the seeds from their husks

It released a wonderful smell of summer turning toward fall

Nodding she walked back to the farmhouse.  Tomorrow they would harvest.

Ready (an acrostic poem)

Relaxing against the wall, he watched his classmates convulse on the dance floor

Everything that night had been disastrous.  First, his date ditched him

And she decided to slow dance with the person who used to be his best friend

Drinking his punch, he wondered what could possibly happen next, but then he laughed

Yes, he knew what was going to happen next.  His master plan was working perfectly.

Operate (an acrostic poem)

Old things had to make way for the new

Pulling back on the lever, the wrecking ball swung and smashed into the wall

Everywhere the ball hit, destruction reigned

Reducing the old structure into historic rubble

And she knew she was good at what she was doing

The crane danced to her choreography, each pirouette punctuated by the boom of connection

Enabling her to place the final period to that building’s story

Circus (an acrostic poem)

Clowns paraded and danced in front of her.

It would have been funny if she didn’t know the truth.

Reality was they were the keys to her success.

Committed to helping her cross the threshold into stardom.

Until that very moment, she had believed that this would all work, but now?

So when they pointed at the cannon, she shook her head and backed away.

Lunch (an acrostic poem)

Looking at her plate, she wondered how she had gotten here

Under the fluorescent yellow liquid cheese, a treasure trove of textures and flavors existed

Now her stomach rumbled in anticipation of the excavation ahead

Crunching a loaded tortilla chip, her tastebuds danced to the symphony of tastes

Hefting her beer and taking a swig, she smiled loving her little bit of heaven

Head (an acrostic poem)

He danced along his mental landscape

Enjoying the infinite possibilities inside his mind

Allowing his imagination to go wild

Determined to escape the reality his meat brain was stuck in

Furry (an acrostic poem)

Fraser combed his arm hair against the grain

Unleashing waves of golden amber hair to crash back upon hardened muscle

Rays of sunlight danced upon the same golden coat covering his back

Really he figured he should shave some of it off

Yet there was the fun of the mystique of being part werewolf that he enjoyed

Tasty (an acrostic poem)

The aromas of honey and age greeted Kendra’s nostrils

As she opened it up and inhaled deeply

Salivating a bit she smiled and tried to take it all in

The flavors danced and spun such a complex tale

You never knew how good the story would be in an old book

Bones (an acrostic poem)

Breaking into the business was extremely hard

Ordinary people followed the traditional route

No skeletons to hide in their closet

Eunice was not like ordinary people though

She danced with those skeletons and eventually earned that med degree
