Dark (an acrostic poem)

Damn!  Why are you so afraid?

All of a sudden the lights went out.

Really?  And you are a grown woman?

Killing you will be messier now, and I forgot my Swifter.

Super (an acrostic poem)

Suddenly Marvin had a panic attack

Under his calm exterior, his emotions were surging

Perplexed at how his luck had turned so quickly

Eyesight grew dark around the edges as his pulse went through the roof

Reacting to winning the lottery shouldn’t be this stressful

Twilight (an acrostic poem)

That in between light and dark

When magic was at its strongest

Isabel cast my spell

Looking for a way to win his love

It may seem silly to most people

Giving this a try

Hell, she thought it was silly herself

That didn’t stop her from hoping they were all wrong

Untied (an acrostic poem)

Useless fingers, frozen from the cold, tried to grasp the laces

Nothing was going right.  The cold was so bitter, the snow so deep

Then there were the noises in the dark.  The sniffs and pants from furry four legs

It made his spine quiver.  He took a step and pulled his foot out of the boot

Even though his foot was half frozen, when it crashed into the snow the chill exploded

Daylight found the boot alone in crimson snow

Crass (an acrostic poem)

Cutting language rained down from the stands

Reaching Stephan’s ears, but he let it drip off his back

All that mattered was that he had just scored

Stupid fans.  They were so in the dark about his greatness.

So he showed them a full moon in appreciation

Cave (an acrostic poem)

Cavernous problems threatened to overwhelm Kevin.  So much to do!

And if that wasn’t bad enough, his kids were in open rebellion wanting him to play

Viewing his choices, Kevin felt he was in the dark, between a rock and a hard place

Eventually he gave in and played with his kids.  Consequences were for tomorrow

Walking on the Dark Side

Short post for tonight.  Was working on trying to get one of my computers to be happy on the network.  This took so long I was left with no time to work on a post for tonight.  I tried to write a few things, but I kept going into very dark places very quickly.  That left me with a good question.  As a writer I try to get inside people’s minds and put their essence onto a written page.  This can be fun, but it can also be disturbing.  Some of my characters scare me.  Some of them make me want to punch them in the face.  Others come off as arrogant or untrustworthy.  The question is when you visit that place inside of you to find where those characters live, do you bring them closer to the surface?  Do they begin stalking your persona, trying to dominate, or threaten your current mindset?  I am sure my dark storytelling tonight was because I am tired and I should be going to bed, but since I am tired and ready to go to bed does that leave me more vulnerable for that pace of foulness to come out.  Interesting things to dream on.  Stay writing my friends.
