Pair (an acrostic poem)

Putting two together was the desired goal of most people

And in some things, she would agree with them.

It didn’t apply to her socks. People always asked if her dryer ate one of them

Reality was she only bought singles since she usually got dressed in the dark.

Bots (an acrostic poem)

Believing in one’s ability to control the machine, the button is pressed

Observing the fallacy of that confidence as the droid fails to do what was desired

Though in the end, the comradery and lessons learned far outweighed the disappointment

STEM encapsulates an ever beating heart and a spirit that will rise from the ashes of failure

Silver (an acrostic poem)

She scowled at her reflection

It was all angles, scars, and knots of muscle

Leaving her bereft of the soft curves she knew he desired

Vapor poured into the window behind her

Envisioning what was about to happen, she punched her image, shattering it

Reaching for a shard, she let it fly, impaling the coalescing vampire.  “How about that curve?” she muttered.

Just One Wish (a 200 word story)

I let the lamp drop to my feet.  The metallic clank it made with the cave floor brought me back to my senses.  “Let me get this straight.  Just one wish?  That’s it?”

“That’s right,” said the genie.  “Just one wish.  I’ll warn you though.  If you wish for more wishes you will be sad.”

“Really?”

“Don’t say I didn’t warn you.”

“Okay, okay.  Just give me a second.”

I began to pace.  I should be a good person and wish that no one went hungry anymore.  Either that or lasting world peace, but I couldn’t bring myself to say the words.  I am a good person, honest, but right then I could ask for anything.  There was a part of me that wanted to be selfish.  I could be the wealthiest person in the world.  I could be irresistible to anyone whom I desired.

I could bring back my parents and have one last dinner with them around the kitchen table.  Now that brought a tear to my eye.  But would that be a good wish?  And yet I could…

“Okay genie.  I wish for…”

Don’t you wish you knew what I wished for?  Go find your own genie!

Wants / Needs (an acrostic poem)

With everything arrayed in front of him

Albert just couldn’t make up his mind

Nothing there would satisfy his itch

Then again, it could be he desired it all.  If only…

Sighing he just sat there

Neville grinned at Albert’s quandary

Everything was going according to plan

Even if Albert made a decision, he would regret it

Doubt was all Neville desired.  His job here was done.

Satan will enjoy this soul!
