All the queen’s men stood tall; heads bowed low

Giving respect for the pine box being carried between them

Every eye was dry, but their hearts wept with each beat

Nothing was more important than being there to respect their fallen comrade

Then they would go out into the world and exact revenge

Tea (an acrostic poem)

The first person had the idea top take these leaves, dry them, and then soak them in boiling water

Evidently was equal parts insane and genius

And I salute them tonight as I lift my cup

Melt (an acrostic poem)

Majestic sunlight splashed into puddles beneath the lush green canopy

Everything here was damp or wet from the extreme humidity

Locals here didn’t have a word for dry. There was no need

Flood (an acrostic poem)

Flowing water piled on top of flowing water

Leaving the water underneath it even wetter

Overwhelming the earth’s ability to contain the fluid assault

Obliterating the concept of dry land

Determined to not let an ark survive this time

Soothe (an acrostic poem)

Overflowing into her life

Outside she looks like a wet mess

Her storms will pass and the emotional sea will calm

Eventually, she will dry off and be herself once more

Tart (an acrostic poem)

Tempting as it was to throw in an acerbic comment to such a crock

Anthony settled for a piquant hand gesture instead

Reaching into his bag he plopped another mini turnover into his mouth

The fact that his doctor didn’t appreciate his dry sense of humor didn’t bother him

Sweat (an acrostic poem)

Softly the salty water plopped on the stone dry earth

While her pulse pounded in her own ears

Each step quickly followed by another

As she ran from the person she once was

Towards the person she wanted to be
