Bang (an acrostic poem)

Being able to pull the trigger had always been the question

All that training and education came down to this moment

Now it was time to execute or walk away

Given the thumbs up, she pushed the button, and the building imploded perfectly as she had planned

Degree (an acrostic poem)

Diplomas carry so much weight for mere pieces of paper

Everything that goes into them distilled into a few words

Giving the holder the opportunity to advertise themselves

Revealing their skills and knowledge

Experiences woven into the very fibers

Education immortalized in the transient

Snow Day (a 100 word snippet)

We home school our kids.  When people find out, they occasionally point out reasons why that’s a bad idea.  They worry about our kids being properly socialized.  They worry that our kids will have holes in their education.  They worry that our kids are getting out of some pieces of childhood that are integral to becoming functional adults.

My kids found out the true negative to being home schooled.  They are currently learning at the dining room table while their public schooled compatriots enjoy a day off.  Time for me to break out a bottle of wine and enjoy the misery.
