Optical (an acrostic poem)

Overhead the clouds obscured the sun

Putting mute the prism’s ability to split light into colors

That didn’t mean she couldn’t enjoy the thing

It allowed her to see shapes in mind-bending ways

Causing her to giggle with delight

And when the sun finally did come out…

Light was cleaved into a rainbow, and she got to be a leprechaun.  Now where was that gold?

Lent (an acrostic conversation)

Image: vegrecipesofindia.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/pizza-recipe-2-500×375.jpg

Look, I know I have a bunch of sins, so sue me!”

Everyone sins. Why are yours so different?”

No one I know puts dill pickles on pizza like I do.”

That’s a damnable offense. Repent you heathen, or enjoy hell!”

Frog (an acrostic poem)

Image: toadsnfrogs.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Tap-Water-Frogs-min.jpg

Focusing on looking before leaping

Really made life easier and gave him so much self-confidence moving forward

Of course, at this particular moment, it was getting a bit warmer, but everything would be just fine

Going to enjoy this sauna environment as it keeps getting hotter slowly until …

Fling (an acrostic poem)

Image: cdn.organizewithsandy.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Frisbee-Disc-Dimensions-How-Wide-and-Long-is-a-Frisbee.png

Flying through the air with a flick of the wrist

Leaving the heft of the situation behind, if only for a moment

It was his way of making these hard days a small bit easier

Not that Ginger cared about that. She just wanted to enjoy her time with him, but it

Gave him a breather from life while he waited for the collie to bring the frisbee back

Tempt (an acrostic poem)

Image: i1.wp.com/www.bitesoutoflife.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/171209_dark-chocolate-truffles-5.jpg

There was the dark chocolate truffle right there

Egging him on to consume and enjoy the ephemeral experience

Mustering his willpower, he pushed the candy away

Putting him in touch with its shiny ebony brown exterior, but he got up and walked off

The fact that he licked his fingers as he left was totally not a cave

Radio (an acrostic poem)

Image: st2.depositphotos.com/3233771/10542/v/600/depositphotos_105420872-stock-video-girl-relaxing-in-convertible-during.jpg

Rock ‘n roll blaring out the speakers

As her convertible rattled down the old dirt road

Determined to enjoy one of the last warm fall days they sang along

If her and her girlfriend were off key, they didn’t care

Only thing that mattered was what song was next

Peaks (an acrostic poem)

Push yourself all the way up to the summit.

Enjoy the view from being on top of the world

And in that moment, realize that all the work was worth it

Keep that high in your heart no matter how low you find yourself later on.

So you know you can do that climb again.  You have proof.

Bill (an acrostic poem)

But he didn’t have the money to pay

It made him feel really bad, but he had been so hungry

Leaving the slip on the table with an “I’m sorry” note

Larry couldn’t really enjoy his first meal in three days as he ran away

Cram (an acrostic poem)

Can’t decide if I can fit it all in

Ramming in multiple items, trying to make them fit

And realizing that it might be a lost cause

Means my students might not enjoy this test.  Hope they study well and don’t…
