So, he looked for hidden meanings in everything around him

It made him paranoid he might miss something that would lead to a preventable catastrophe

Going through life on tiptoe meant that finding anything underfoot caused him to lose mental balance

Now if he only saw that earlier, he might have enjoyed what that foretold

Nest (an acrostic poem)

Nothing like home, that is such a true phrase

Except Bruce considered his house was just a collection of sticks

So it surprised no one when he one day just migrated away and never came back

The pair of swallows that moved in next enjoyed it so much more

Nocturnal (an acrostic poem)

Nighttime was when he was awake and alive

Observing his domain as he prowled the streets

Citizens were happily in their beds now

They were dreaming dreams of a light-filled world

Under which people like him were just fragments of lore

Real-world boogeymen who cleaned up society’s messes

Now that suited him just fine

As he enjoyed the peace and quiet of owning the blacktop

Lifting another trashcan, he deposited the contents in the back of the truck before moving on

Classic (an acrostic poem)

Cleopatra was definitely her BFF

Leaving that loser Marc Anthony behind of course

And she loved the idea of dancing with Frank Astaire

Singing in the rain dodging the puddles in her swing dress

She enjoyed belting songs with Patsy Kline at full volume

It made her feel connected to life

Could be her soul was so old it was a…

Costume (an acrostic poem)

Clothing makes the man they say

Or in his case, they allowed him to blend in

So that the prey around him didn’t recognize predator in their midst

Though they would be nervous as if they could see through his disguise

Undercover he enjoyed taking his time

Meticulously picking his next victim

Enjoying the chaos he left in his wake

Furry (an acrostic poem)

Fraser combed his arm hair against the grain

Unleashing waves of golden amber hair to crash back upon hardened muscle

Rays of sunlight danced upon the same golden coat covering his back

Really he figured he should shave some of it off

Yet there was the fun of the mystique of being part werewolf that he enjoyed

Glass (an acrostic poem)

Given his motives were so transparent

Linda almost decided to shatter his fragile ego

And she would have, but his daughter needed to know

So she enjoyed showing the girl her fighter pilot wings

She loved breaking his idea of a ceiling, both for her and her dad

Cute (an acrostic poem)

Cuddling her close, Derrick enjoyed her warmth

Under his light touch, she purred with pleasure

The night was young and the two of them were curled up on the couch together

Even though Derrick was allergic, he still loved his kitty
