Do you prefer blinds or shades?”

Really it’s a toss-up, though my cats prefer blinds”

Ah, I see.  Is it because they love to peer through the slats?”

People like to think that.  No, it’s because they like to break off the ends”

Entropy and gravity.  The study of feline physicists everywhere.”

Builder (an acrostic poem)

Boosting those around her every day

Underpinning the sagging self-worth of the masses

It was a never-ending battle against the entropy of existence

Leaving her drained every evening when she went to bed

Drifting to sleep while praying that she could do more

Everyone was amazed how much one woman could do

Remarkable a mother could do

Leap Ahead (a 100 word truth?)

Is time ever lost or gained?  The reality of life is that time is experienced.  It can be wasted, or treasured.  It can be counted one second at a time or embraced as a whole.  Time is a measure of the ever increasing chaos around us.  Nothing incorporates all these thoughts as succinctly as “leaping ahead”.  So as you leap ahead an hour, remember you didn’t really lose an hour, but gained a shifted perspective on life.  Think about that while you try to stay awake in church in the morning because you didn’t get your full beauty sleep tonight.

Here’s To You (a 100 word soliloquy)

Sometimes I have to open a cold one, sit on my porch, and watch the entropy of the universe increase.  People every day try to bring order to the ever increasing chaos that is life.  That energy has to come from the blood, sweat, and tears of people who care.  All that energy is consumed, making a small bubble of stability, but adds to the randomness overall.  We all are fighting a losing battle, no matter what we do, and how much we want it to be different.  So I offer a toast.   Here’s to you, entropy.  Here’s to you.
