Cereal (an acrostic poem)

Couldn’t start her morning without the stuff

Everyday was a bowl or two of sugary goodness

Really it was also a bowl for lunch, and maybe one for a late night snack

Eventually she realized she was an addict

And tried to quit cold turkey, but that didn’t end well

Locked up after freebasing all the Captain Crunch at Walmart

Grateful (an acrostic poem)

Giving thanks is an everyday event

Really it should be moment to moment

At least we set a day aside to remind us to do so

Tempering the hectic pace of life

Enabling friends and family a moment to pause

For every day is truly a gift, each sunrise a blessing

Until that sun doesn’t rise for you anymore

Long may you live and be …

It can be amazing what you can miss

Now reach out and seize what is important

Do this everyday to discover who you can be

Witness for the invisible and intangible

Ripping it from the ether and grounding it in words

Interpreting the strange and the different

Tying it to the ordinary and everyday

Even though it sucks part of the soul out to do so

Revealing the story is worth it
