Looking for that little bit more
I push the pace past what was comfortable into the red zone
Making me breathe harder, faster
It rips a growl from my soul as hit that wall
T
hen I break through that ceiling. On to that next level.

Maybe he wasn’t the most efficient person
Under duress, he could be even worse
Determination, though, was something he had in abundance
Determination to show those faster hares what a tortoise could do
Life could take the rat race and shove it
Eventually, he would make a better mousetrap and they would all have to slow down
She wanted to learn everything
Cram as much of the information as she could into her cerebellum
Have the ability to recall things faster than Google
Obviously that wouldn’t be really possible
Or else there would already be that person in the world
Leaving her only one choice, stay forever where she could continue to try to be the first

Nearer it got, the faster it seemed to be moving, the louder it became, the harder her heart beat
Old primal fears rose from the depths of her hindbrain. She began to flee the sound
Undulating ground eventually caught her foot causing her to sprawl to the ground
Still, the sounds were getting closer, faster, louder.
When they told her to calm down, she amped it up
If they told her to wait a minute, she went faster
Looking back was never an option; she just kept her eyes to the future
Determined was how she viewed herself, others thought she was…
