Heatwave sent summer shimmers flowing down the black pavement

Yet those crashing waves offered no respite from the oppression

Determined to find relief, she struggled with the large retaining nut

Realizing it was too tight, she called out for help

And yet no one came to the rescue because a firetruck came around the corner

Now she was scared that she was going to be in big trouble for even considering such a thing

That was assuaged when they pulled out an even bigger wrench and viola the water flowed

Diner (an acrostic poem)

Dinner rush was hitting hard, not a seat at the counter was empty

It was moments like this that made Tracy’s spirit sing

Nudging her to be more efficient taking orders, expediting, and jumping on the line

Energy flowed from her to her customers satisfying their appetite for perfection

Rush ended and Tracy felt wrung out since she had poured out her soul into their meals

Timing (an acrostic poem)

There was a rhythm to how things flowed in life

If one could anticipate the beat, one could thrive

Many tried and flailed and failed, but Ramona was a natural

It left those in the know in awe and a bit jealous

Now here she was, about to win it all and there wouldn’t be anything left

Giving in, she purposely made a mistake assuring herself a better tomorrow
