Making food always made him feel both happy and sad.

Every morsel that left his kitchen was a love note to those who ordered it.

A loving response was an empty plate that came back, ready to be cleaned for a new missive.

Leaving food on the plate meant rejection and left him wondering what went wrong.

Fried (an acrostic poem)

Fast-food restaurant grease ran down his chubby fingers.

Reaching for the cup of bubbly sugar water to wash it down, he took a long swig.

It tasted so so good. He snatched up his burger and took another ferocious bite.

Eventually, the stuffing of his face subsided and he turned back to the problem at hand.

Differential equations had destroyed his brain, but after that carb load, it was time to strike back!

Farm (an acrostic poem)

Finding your food on the ground usually is a bad thing

And would be frowned upon picking it up and popping it into your mouth

Radishes and watermelons were there for the taking though

Making this one place where there was way more than the ten-second rule.

Feast (an acrostic poem)

Focusing on the food was what gave him pleasure

Every morsel perfectly prepared and consummately seasoned

At the moment he could think of nothing better existing in the universe

So why was his stomach still an echo chamber of empty rumbles?

The fact the meal in question was just an old magazine spread and he had no money

Poor (an acrostic poem)

Putting the food for today on her credit card

Or she would have, but it was denied like usual

Of course, that meant she was going to go hungry again

Really if it happened too much longer and she would get a meal at the emergency room

Motor (an acrostic poem)

Mary was always on the go.

Oblivious to sleep or the need for food.

The way she pushed herself was amazing to watch.

Of course, she could not keep this up forever.

Really it wasn’t surprising when she crashed and burned.

Shape (an acrostic poem)

So he was happy with being a circle

He liked that better than being a square

And he loved all the food pyramid equally

Perhaps he should have used the heart attack as a stop sign, but…

Eventually it caught up to him, and he was placed in a rectangle box

Chef (an acrostic poem)

Cuisine so fine that that it demanded to be taken out for a dinner date

He showered her with flavors that were tart, sweet, salty, and spicy

Everything balanced to a perfection, a true masterpiece of culinary art

Food may be temporally empheneral, but the memories of that meal will be eternal

Triangle (an acrostic poem)

There were three sides to this story

Reaching across time and space

I took control of the situation

As I fought various fantastical creatures

Navigating places of extreme cold and heat

Gaining great weapons and armors while cooking yummy food

Leading me to the ultimate battle of good and evil

Eventually, the triforce will be mine!

Rest (an acrostic poem)

Relaxing with her beer, she smiled at her day

Everything had gone wrong with the day

Still, her family was healthy, and they all had food in their tummies

That, and a good night’s sleep, was all they needed to make tomorrow better
