Green (an acrostic poem)

Growing a new future out of a cold wintery past

Reaching for the bright blue sky

Energy from the sun beating down on the newly born leaves

Enticing them to soak in all that they could

Nurturing them to express their vitality in a multitude of shades of…

Color (an acrostic poem)

Couldn’t tell the difference between red and blue

Or blue and green for that matter

Looking at everything in grayscale made paint choices easier

Only paying attention to lights and darks

Reaching for his brush he channeled his inner M. C. Escher

Radiate (an acrostic poem)

Image: upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/5c/Sun-in-the-sky.jpg

Revealing light streams over the landscape

Abstract shapes resolve into the finite

Dictating reality to manifest yet again

It warmed her heart every time it happened

As the sun slowly eased itself above the threshold of the horizon

The green flash announcing its next jaunt across the sky

Exciting her eyes with the potential of a new chance, a new day

Pick (an acrostic poem)

Putting her money where her mouth is was always difficult

It seemed easier to not think and go with her heart in those circumstances

Casting the dice down the green felted table, she closed her eyes

Knowing that whatever happened, her life was going to be changed forever

Taste (an acrostic poem)

Those stripes will be yummy with a dash of polka dots

Adding the mismatched pink and green fluorescent socks to further spice it up

So put together a feast for your soul and embrace who you are

There might be people who want to throw up a bit when they see you walk down the street but…

Everyone has a different fashion palate when it comes to style.

Barber (an acrostic poem)

Boy could those men tell you stories amid the smell of talc and aftershave

About times in the past that people have forgotten

Remembering with such clarity the neighborhood throughout time

Because they had been there for a combined hundred-sixty years

Everyone came there to sit in those ancient green chairs and listen raptly

Relishing their experience with those historians.  The haircuts weren’t too bad either.

Fall (an acrostic poem)

Finding the remains of summer scattered upon the ground

As I walk along the shrinking daylight

Leaving the time of green behind

Looking toward the time of stark contrasts of dark and white

Melt (an acrostic poem)

Image: australiancurriculumlessons.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/Ice-melting-experiment-1.jpg

Majestic sunlight splashed into puddles beneath the lush green canopy

Everything here was damp or wet from the extreme humidity

Locals here didn’t have a word for dry. There was no need

That’s why when his cousins from Iceland came to visit they would …

Go For It (an acrostic poem)

Green traffic light cuts the darkness

Opening the way for me

Feeling the pavement pass under my wheels

Outside becomes surreal

Racing through this new reality

Itching to shift it into the next gear

Throwing caution to the wind, I do it
