Order (an acrostic poem)

Out of the chaos, a need for organization grew stronger

Reaching for a list and some boxes, the war began

Dedicating time to the battle, slowly the chaos was pushed back

Except they never saw the betrayal that was about to happen

Right at the moment the house was set straight, they had twins and that’s when chaos won

Loop (an acrostic poem)

Looking at the arrow of time, he felt that it was wrong. It didn’t explain his bouts of DeJa’Vu.

Oh, that’s why he had spent so much of his life putting together this machine from those moments.

Only did he have the balls to press the button and see what would happen?

Pushing it he winked out of time.  When he woke up he had a feeling he should make a time machine…

Cork (an acrostic poem)

Cutlass sang as it was pulled from its sheath
Ordering everyone to pay attention to what was about to happen
Raising the bottle high, he slammed the blade upward
Kealhauling the glass top away, and with it, it carried the …

Giving money away like it was going out of style

Reaching deep into their wallet to make everything happen

And boy did they.  They were a walking talking party

From sunup till way past sundown, sometimes for twenty-four hours straight

Then one day their aunt realized where her money was going, and he suddenly had none.

Putting down the platter in front of her

Lisa pondered what was going to happen to her next

All that Googling and research, but in the end, it always came down to a coin flip

Tails and she would die from the poison there in front of her, okay, maybe that was a bit strong, but…

Everyone watched as she ate. She smiled. It seemed to be gluten-free. Heads it is!

Floor (an acrostic poem)

Image: assets.incstores.com/cms/buyers-guide/dance/ballroom-dance-floor/ballroom-dance-floor-1.jpg

Feet drifted along the hardwood

Looking for the beat desperately since he felt his life depended on it

Of course, they could not find it and so he dreaded what would happen next

Ordinarily he would have abandoned ship and found a wall to prop up, but…

Rachel kept smiling at him as she tried to follow his lead, and that was all that counted

Whole (an acrostic poem)

When the ground opened up, it swallowed the entire town.

How could such a thing happen without any warning?

Oh, and the hole kept getting bigger and bigger

Leaving an ever-growing scar across the landscape

Everyone was horrified as they turned the next page of Stephen King’s newest book

Ready (an acrostic poem)

Relaxing against the wall, he watched his classmates convulse on the dance floor

Everything that night had been disastrous.  First, his date ditched him

And she decided to slow dance with the person who used to be his best friend

Drinking his punch, he wondered what could possibly happen next, but then he laughed

Yes, he knew what was going to happen next.  His master plan was working perfectly.

Plead (an acrostic poem)

Perhaps there is another way to do this

Let me give you something as a reward for making this happen

Everyone deserves a second chance, right?

And what if it was your mother who was in my situation?

Don’t make me eat pineapple on my pizza! I ordered it by mistake!

(FYI I love pineapple on my pizza.)

Optics (an acrostic poem)

Over the years, she realized her vision was deteriorating

Putting reading into the group of activities that were getting hard to do

That was a huge penalty to getting older

It made her mad at the universe for allowing this to happen, but to no avail

Collapsing her into a deep depression that echoed her depleting eyesight.

So it surprised everyone around her when she would not put on her damn glasses
