Putting color onto the canvas brought a smile to his face and chase away his frustrations

As the white disappeared behind his assured strokes, his happiness grew

It was cathartic to brush in his happy little trees standing tall

Nothing could ruin his mood now

This is where all his mistakes were opportunities

Reacting to a year full of memories overwhelmed her

Every insult and hurt brought tears to her eyes

Filling her with a sadness that threatened to overwhelm her

Letting loose a shuddering sob, she focused on the positives

Every hug and laugh filled her to overflowing with a happiness that leaked between the tears

Changing them to wet badges of joy

That lifted her spirit and gave her hope for the new year

Lifting those around her with the strength of her humor

Always trying to coax a smile and plant a seed of happiness

Understanding sometimes people need to cry

Giving them the space in those moments to finish watering their emotional crop

Helping eventually the next crop of the giggles to grow after that soaking

Focusing on what he had lost stole all his spare time and consumed his happiness.

It left him starved for the nourishment that was “The Before”.

Now that she had come into his life, all that was scrambled.

Didn’t get back any spare time, but he was stuffed with happiness
