Making out of this place alive was going to take skill and daring

All the exotic animals surrounding him made it even harder

Zoos were supposed to be places of wonder and discovery

Except he was just a humble peacock, and all these stupid paths became one evil…

Feel (an acrostic poem)

Finding his emotions too cumbersome to deal with, he packed them away.

Eliminating his ability to cope with other people around him

Everything became harder until he decided to become a hermit

Leaving humanity behind allowed him to decompress and once again begin to …

Limit (an acrostic poem)

Looking for that little bit more

I push the pace past what was comfortable into the red zone

Making me breathe harder, faster

It rips a growl from my soul as hit that wall

Then I break through that ceiling.  On to that next level.

Ominous (an acrostic poem)

Outside, the darkness was pierced by the full moon

Making the fallen leaves look hauntingly surreal

It was then we she heard the sound of something approaching

Nearer it got, the faster it seemed to be moving, the louder it became, the harder her heart beat

Old primal fears rose from the depths of her hindbrain.  She began to flee the sound

Undulating ground eventually caught her foot causing her to sprawl to the ground

Still, the sounds were getting closer, faster, louder.

Disgusting (an acrostic poem)

Dominic looked at his fouled sneakers

It had started so simply that morning

Snuggling in his warm covers as the sunlight crept into the window

Getting up he put on his running gear and headed out to the trail

Under the red and orange leaves he began to jog

Soon his breath was ragged as he pushed himself harder and farther

That was when he felt that dreaded hard intestinal clenching

It made him stop and look around, but there were people everywhere

Now he tried to walk back, but about half way there he lost the battle

Giving the term “the runs” an added meaning

Blessed (an acrostic poem)

Being all alone was hard on Mary

Losing Rachel at such a young age left a scar

Even after four years, Mary would return weekly to the grave site

Sharing her thoughts and dreams, troubles and victories

So much of her life was under that dirt

Everything just seemed so much harder

Daily though she thanked God for the chance to keep Rachel alive in her heart
