Given how much it meant to her, this failure left her soul feeling heavy

Reason told her this time wasn’t any different then the million times before

And she knew she should let go of that emotional weight

Vanity wouldn’t let that happen, though

It kept her rooted firmly on the ground

That pressure to beat Sisyphus by pushing up her metaphorical boulder

Yielded the same result.  She never left her personal black hole

And that’s when I asked about his heavy drinking past”

Now that’s a new one.  I never knew he did that.”

Gonna confess, he doesn’t have one”

Let me get this right, you asked someone about a past you know they didn’t have?”

Everyone has a ghost, I just picked the wrong haunted house.”

Break (an acrostic poem)

Been a long time since she had to bend that far

Reality was just that heavy upon her heart

Everything seemed like the worst of times

And all she wanted to do was somehow slip past to a light hearted moment

Knowing if she had to carry more then she would…

Dragon (an acrostic poem)

Darwin hefted his heavy crossbow and took aim

Randy was distracting the wyrm with his stupid antics

Allowing Darwin a chance to strike the killing blow

Got to hit it through the eye and into the brainpan

One in a million shot, even at the best of times, but Darwin knew he was better than that

Never counted on the beast blinking.  Darwin never felt the flames
