Everything felt numb inside

Making him crave something, anything to fill that void

Pushing him to do crazier and crazier things

Though nothing seemed to help

Yet it did lead him to believe he was broken

Mass (an acrostic poem)

Maybe she should have gone to church more often

Any time things got rough she would break down and go

So now here she was, talking to the priest about her cancer

Sometimes it helps to find someone to help to with the heavy lifting

How could you abandon us in our need?

Every day we screamed your name and begged for deliverance.

And yet you did not answer our pleas for help and mercy.

Reality is you were never listening in the first place.

Help (an acrostic poem)

Heroes wielding swords and rescuing damsels in distress were in short supply at Walmart so…

Emily decided that it was time for her to grab her own murder instrument and show the world

Life and society thought she didn’t have what it took to get things done, that she needed a savior

Perhaps they should have thought twice before she began her rampage.  Now those idiots needed…

Kind (an acrostic poem)

Know deep down that it is okay to fail sometimes

It will happen, and all you can do is pick yourself up and go on

Need help doing so?  Ask for it.  No one is so good they don’t need help

Don’t beat yourself up about it, and share that same grace with others

Liberty (an acrostic poem)

Leaving the chains behind is just the start

It means helping the formerly enslaved stand up

Being there to lend a hand in moving forward

Enabling them to not only survive but thrive

Reach for those hands across the divide

Trust that the world will be better in the long run

You can help bring justice for all

Void (an acrostic poem)

Vast emptiness inside his life left him listless, drifting in space

Oblivious to those orbiting around him trying to help

It was easier to focus on those hot balls of gas spewing hate

Deeper he went, then colder and darker it became till he became lost in the…

Chill (an acrostic poem)

Cold hands touched his back

He couldn’t help himself.  He flinched.

It broke the moment, and after an awkward pause she left

Leaving him alone with only half his plans for the night

Luckily Netflix wasn’t as judgey

Pony (an acrostic poem)

Purchasing the young horse was his first problem

Oh, and then there was finding a stable for it to live

Not even calculating the costs of feeding, veterinary help, and riding lessons

Yet the look on his six-year-old son’s face made it all worth it
