Plain (an acrostic poem)

Image: macmillandictionary.com/external/slideshow/full/White_full.png

Putting her unadorned baggy white dress on

Leaving so much to the imagination that it hurt to even try to fantasize anything about her

And piling her hair up under her uninspiring hat

It gave the world the perfect vanilla picture she craved them to know

Nobody would expect the wildness contained therein until it was too late

Art (an acrostic poem)

Always creating for the sake of creation.

Reality bends to accommodate the totality of new imagination generated.

That might be the source of all the dark energy!

Crayon (an acrostic poem)

Crayola’s yellow box made his eyes go wide.

Realizing all one hundred twenty colors inside were his to work with.

And that thought had him wondering what he should color first.

Yukon forests?  Dragons breathing fire on a horde of gold? Something from the Matrix?

Of course, he could let his imagination run wild and do something totally out of the box.

Next moment he was using a heat gun to make a three-dimensional sunset!

Dali (an acrostic poem)

Image: theartist.me/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/salvador-dali-painting.jpg

Damaged and melting within a bright-colored landscape

A juxtaposition of reality and imagination

Leaving one breathless between comfort and discomfort

It is a surreal feeling

Yarn (an acrostic poem)

You think he memorizes his stories?

All of them are made up right on the spot

Really, he takes a seed of truth and plants it in his imagination

Now his voice waters that seed and out of that grows amazing

Spell (an acrostic poem)

So do you believe in the magic that surrounds you?

Pushing the fantastical into the factual

Enabling imagination to define reality

Letting wonder bloom in the field of drab predictability

Let’s drink deep of this fever dream and cast our fancy into the world

Contrast (an acrostic poem)

Image: images.saatchiart.com/saatchi/993084/art/7946096/7013651-QABXKDML-7.jpg

Cold, cold logic sets fire to my imagination

Oblivious to the pain, I draw out tears of joy

Nothing can stop me but myself

That’s what makes creating so hard.  It’s destroying simple things

Reaching the basic elements and then building complex structures on them

Always digging deeper and climbing higher

Searching for the thing that is always with you

That is the war of the abstract and realism that defines me

Write (an acrostic poem)

Image: i.ytimg.com/vi/vdKNcw5IYv0/maxresdefault.jpg

Words dribble out of my fingers

Raw unfiltered fragments of imagination

Incandescent with flashes of brilliance

Though often followed by long droughts of darkness

Engulfing everything in shades of mediocrity

Cinema (an acrostic poem)

Composing art through words and images

Inspiring imagination and thought through deep story telling

Nobody is falling asleep in the dark, too much emotion and adrenaline

Everyone is mesmerized by what is happening on the big screen

Many will watch it again at home, but that collective theater experience is special

Allowing for a brief moment a community zeitgeist that can be transformative
