People say the pen is mightier than the sword
Except they are missing the point, the manually sharpened point
Now you could include mechanical versions, but that is such a lazy game
Can’t use all geometric aspects of the lead to create crisp lines to gentle shading
It is a uni-tasker, and as such fits more of the pen diatribe
Let’s admit it, all the power you need is located in a good No. 2…
So, he looked for hidden meanings in everything around him
It made him paranoid he might miss something that would lead to a preventable catastrophe
Going through life on tiptoe meant that finding anything underfoot caused him to lose mental balance
Now if he only saw that earlier, he might have enjoyed what that foretold
Feet drifted along the hardwood
Looking for the beat desperately since he felt his life depended on it
Of course, they could not find it and so he dreaded what would happen next
Ordinarily he would have abandoned ship and found a wall to prop up, but…
Rachel kept smiling at him as she tried to follow his lead, and that was all that counted
Pushing lead to shoving that escalated from there
Until both idiots were doing a full on scuffle
Now normally I would call for the police to put an end to the altercation
Couldn’t this time, though, since they were two off duty boys in blue
How they explained the black eyes on Monday was going to be interesting
Everything felt numb inside
Making him crave something, anything to fill that void
Pushing him to do crazier and crazier things
Though nothing seemed to help
Yet it did lead him to believe he was broken
Chocolate chips, brown sugar, vanilla extract play lead guitar
Oh, and all the stuff that gives it structure like a good back beat
Organize the lumps of raw dough on a baking sheet
Keeping good social distance between them
Igniting the oven and bringing it to temp so this party can get started
Everything comes out ooey, gooey, and so bad for you. Yum!

Reviewing hours of video was something he used to do as a private eye
It wasn’t his favorite part of a horrible job, but he was good at it
Grabbing his coffee he slowed down the frames
Unable to believe what he was seeing he checked it fifteen times
Everything finally made sense, and he had his lead
