Beating a dead horse became his specialty.

Railing against the machine his mission in life.

All he lived for was to troll as many people as he could on Twitter.

So it was surprising when he found a woman who would put up with his shenanigans.

Her secret?  She bought his mama’s house and locked him inside the basement.

Structure (an acrostic poem)

Steel girders littered the broken skyline

That the wind howled through

Reaching for her shotgun, Lily watched for the Others

Until she was locked away in her hidey-hole

Couldn’t be too careful ever since the Others had landed

The war for Earth had been devastating to both sides until the Truce

Under that, no new Other could come planetside

Relying on those already here to finish the job without destroying what was left of the planet

Except now no one knew who was winning anymore

Cereal (an acrostic poem)

Couldn’t start her morning without the stuff

Everyday was a bowl or two of sugary goodness

Really it was also a bowl for lunch, and maybe one for a late night snack

Eventually she realized she was an addict

And tried to quit cold turkey, but that didn’t end well
