Distant (an acrostic conversation)

 

Don’t know how to tell you this.

If you don’t know how then just blurt it out like you usually do

See, we have been so close for so long

That’s an understatement.  We’ve been married for twenty-two years

And in all that time I feel we’ve been growing apart

Not this again.  What did you do this time?

That’s something I only would tell my friends

Almost Fell In Love (an acrostic poem)

At one time Riley thought he really cared for Tabitha

Little kisses snuck in when no one was looking

Making those goofy faces when they sent each other snaps

On the outside everything was perfect

Still, it was doomed to failure from the start

Too bad Tabitha was already married

 

Feelings were hurt when she wouldn’t leave her husband

Even after Riley had professed his feelings

Looking back it was probably all for the better

Leaving her husband would have put doubt in their relationship

 

It would have festered with Riley, wondering would she do it again

Never fully trusting her though he would try so hard

 

Little by little Tabitha and he grew apart

Only Jessica being there for him got him through it

Vixen that she was, she showed him what commitment could deliver

Eventually he grew to appreciate the wife he already had over the one he wanted

Barbershop King (a 150 word story)

The barbershop smelled of talcum powder and yesteryear’s stale cigarettes.  Dale closed his eyes and felt the gentle tugs of scissors cutting through his wispy graying hair.  He remembered back to a time where he would be smoking one of those cigarettes as the barber struggled to tame his gorgeous mane.  He had been king back then, and this place had been his private den.  Now he was an aging male with a comb over and a paunch of too successful hunting.

The bell announced a new customer.  Dale opened his eyes to see Charlie come in.  Charlie rubbed what little stubble he had on the top of his noggin.  “Got time to shave me?” Charlie asked.  “My daughter is getting married this week.”

Dale smiled and closed his eyes.  He may not have much, but he had more hair than Charlie, and that was good enough for this king.

What should have been awesome seats for the concert

It ended up being totally blocked by this seven foot tall dude

Florence thought this would be the worst

Three weeks later the dude and her were happily married ever after

Wife (an acrostic poem)

What would I do without you?

I would be lost and without my best friend

Fortunately we have been married for twenty-two years today

Enamoring me to you more each day

Cutting out yet another bunny body from a paper plate

Ruth smiled to herself as her plan was coming together so nicely

All she needed to do was first attach the head and legs

Finishing it with a bit of color, cotton balls, and a bit of perfume

To think Stevie would unsuspectingly bring it home to his dad

Yet his dad would be horrified to  realize that now Ruth knew he was married

Courting (an acrostic poem)

Crowning her his queen

Owen was amazed that she said yes

Unsure what to do next, he just stood there

Reaching out, she took his face in her hands

To think they were going to get married

It made him paralyzed with fear

Now she kissed him back to life

Giving him a chance to feel like a king

Too Hot (an acrostic poem)

Teasing him with her eyes from across the dance floor, he decided to give it a try.

Oliver tried to move to the beat as he danced across the floor and into her personal space

Over the loud thumping of the speakers around them he mouthed, “Want to play?”

 

He expected her to laugh at him, but instead she danced closer yet

Orbiting her, he could feel the heat she was giving off

That’s one of the many reasons why he had married her all those years before

Leroy whistled at the way her dress made a puddle on his floor

Until that moment he had been a happily married man

Still there was a small part of him that yelled to run away

Too bad it was drowned out by her moans
