Color (an acrostic poem)

Couldn’t tell the difference between red and blue

Or blue and green for that matter

Looking at everything in grayscale made paint choices easier

Only paying attention to lights and darks

Reaching for his brush he channeled his inner M. C. Escher

Snack (an acrostic poem)

So what if he was hungry?

No one cared, no matter how much he bitched and moaned

And yet he expected her to do something about it

Couldn’t he tell she was hungry as well, and when she was hungry she became a monster.

Kettle was soon bubbling, releasing yummy smells into the air.  She was gonna eat well tonight, she was!

Nothing was the usual in that bar
Ordering a drink never meant that was what you got
Rarely did it matter since everyone was there for the ambiance
Magical unicorns walking around seemed to be enough

Addict (an acrostic poem)

Anytime he was awake, he craved the release
Didn’t matter that it wasn’t good for him
Didn’t matter if it cost him everything
It only mattered achieving that all-consuming bliss
Catching that dopamine hit and sustaining it as long as possible
That’s why the six of them held an intercession and checked Dopey into rehab

Near (an acrostic poem)

Never was he farther away physically from her

Every day he felt that emptiness when he woke up

And no matter how many times he got to call her, it was never enough

Reaching his decision, he booked his flight.  Money is great, but being there was priceless

Layers (an acrostic poem)

Looking through sheet after sheet of code and information, trying to find his traces

As she peeled back the Tor “onion” server

Yielding few results from her computer forensic investigation

Everything was a matter of time, though

Ridding all traces of her initial hack of the system was well worth the effort

So the things she left behind would point an arrow only to him

Couldn’t get her hair to behave

Opposite of that as a matter of fact

Might be because it had minds of its own

Because her snakes were mad she had tried to use a…

Achieve (an acrostic poem)

Image: premiumjoy.com/wp-content/uploads/kids-puzzle-pieces-closeup-view.jpg

Accept with grace that sometimes you will fail

Cherish those moments, no matter how hard they are

Here is where you learn the most

It is akin to putting a puzzle together

Everything was once one picture before being forced to shatter

Vividly the picture can be reconstructed, but the outlines of what happen will always be there

Embrace that change and then reach for the next level

Wonder (an acrostic poem)

Image: cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/7iXUPoququbMmAPMTLsoKK-320-80.jpg

Watch the way the world unfolds around you.

One thing leading to another in a vast circle of reality.

Notice how each piece is interlinked with so many other pieces.

Down to the knowledge that a star had to die to create the matter that makes you.

Ever sit there and just contemplate all that?

Realize that that feeling of awe is as normal as breathing, that you are a …
