Early (an acrostic poem)

Every day he tried to get to work on time, but he was always late

And every day his boss would threaten to fire him before letting him get to work

Risking his employment might not have been the smartest thing in the world, but he had problems

Look, he wasn’t a morning person, but he would work till well past midnight

You know what, maybe he wasn’t late, but since he worked deep into the night, maybe he was really…

Prime (an acrostic poem)

Putting all her chips on lucky thirteen.

Roulette rewarded the three to five people who carried luck in their back pocket.

It made one wonder if they were a part of that club.

Maybe it was too much to count on since her skirt didn’t even have a front pocket, much less two.

Eventually, the ball landed on eleven, ending her night.  Time to hit the buffet and eat some of that beef.

Chef (an acrostic poem)

Cooking the lights out every night was her goal in life

Harvesting awesome flavors from every ingredient she touched

Extreme foodies would travel from halfway around the world to sample her dishes

Focusing on that dream, the six-year-old watched her mom boil water

Enter (an acrostic poem)

Every night Walter left cookies beside his bed

Never expecting them to be gone by morning, but a small part hoped really hard

They were his offering to the Sandman for dreams that never came

Eventually the Sandman had to get hungry and grant him his wish of a dream.  It was Walter’s only hope

Reaching for a snack as he got out of bed, he didn’t notice that the cookie he took reappeared as he walked away.

Songs rang through the night, raising everyone’s spirits

It made the darkness come alive with magical moments

No one was ever going to forget it for the rest of their lives

Given that the ghosts were slaughtering all those that lived, their memories didn’t have to last for long.

Ready (an acrostic poem)

Relaxing against the wall, he watched his classmates convulse on the dance floor

Everything that night had been disastrous.  First, his date ditched him

And she decided to slow dance with the person who used to be his best friend

Drinking his punch, he wondered what could possibly happen next, but then he laughed

Yes, he knew what was going to happen next.  His master plan was working perfectly.

Sphere (an acrostic poem)

Suns spun in their gravitational dance around the galaxy

Planets pulled around and around each of those hot balls of nuclear fire

How amazing it was that the cosmic dance continued since time eternal

Every clear night she looked up at the dancers above

Reveling in the opportunity to study the performance

Embracing the challenge of cyphering out the music

She loved astrophysics

Swell (an acrostic poem)

Starlight-sparkles dance on the whitecapped waves

Waltzing their way to a sandy landing

Every new pulse of water brings up another promenade

Letting the dance go on and on throughout the night

Leaving the scene when the sun peaks over the horizon

Tall (an acrostic poem)

The height of hypocrisy was laid bare before them in all its naked glory

As they tried to figure out what tale to use to spin a cloak of fool’s gold over everything

Long into the night they schemed and wove their lies together until they were transparent and glorious

Letting them unleash their creation proclaiming the emperor is clothed
