Begin (an acrostic poem)

Been looking to start something else

Even though I have five hundred or so projects in the works.

Given all that, something new has caught my eye.

I wonder if I could squeeze it in if I sacrifice something else.

Nobody really needs to sleep, right?

Plain (an acrostic poem)

Putting her unadorned baggy white dress on

Leaving so much to the imagination that it hurt to even try to fantasize anything about her

And piling her hair up under her uninspiring hat

It gave the world the perfect vanilla picture she craved them to know

Nobody would expect the wildness contained therein until it was too late

Frown (an acrostic poem)

Finding upside down smiles scattered among the audience

Richard tried to make a quick joke to lighten the mood

Only it didn’t work, and more people joined the unhappy camp

When he decided one more time, they started to angrily yell at him

Nobody warned him that practicing his startup at a funeral was going to be such a bad idea

Tone (an acrostic poem)

The music began with a low, moody, ominous bass part.

On screen, lightning played among the far hills.

Nobody seemed to have a plan as to how to stop the zombie invasion.

Except one!  She pulled out her phone and that is what cued the Bollywood style dance-off!

Spoons (an acrostic poem)

So far much can you handle today?

Perhaps it is one or two more than yesterday

Or maybe it is a half dozen less

Or maybe you threw them all in the wash and need to sit out a bit

Nobody can tell you how many you have at your disposal

So do what you can and know that it’s okay

Cinema (an acrostic poem)

Composing art through words and images

Inspiring imagination and thought through deep story telling

Nobody is falling asleep in the dark, too much emotion and adrenaline

Everyone is mesmerized by what is happening on the big screen

Many will watch it again at home, but that collective theater experience is special

Allowing for a brief moment a community zeitgeist that can be transformative

Transport (an acrostic poem)

There were times he just wanted to get away

Race from wherever he was to someplace new

A place where no one knew him

No way that was going to happen now

So many things had happened over the past few years

People recognized him everywhere

Only if he could go back to being a nobody would he be truly happy

Reaching for his wine glass he raised a toast to himself

That’s what you get when you figure out the path to making it big

Sling (an acrostic poem)

So it was a David versus Goliath affair

Liam felt his hopes dangling on the edge of a cliff

If he ever lost faith that he had a chance

Nobody would fault him, but

Giving his shoulders a heave he walked over and asked her out
