You all said it couldn’t be done.
Every single one of you bet against me.
And now here we are, 365 days later, and what do you have to say now?
Really? Told you so? I thought you might have a bit more sympathy since I failed so miserably
You all said it couldn’t be done.

The future is now.
Electrons dancing for your entertainment
Creating universes for you to play god in
How benevolent will you be?
Log after log swung off the truck and onto the mud
Under a gray sky that threatened snow any day now
Maybe she would have time to get this cabin built, but it would be close, too close.
Before she had moved out here, all she knew was the stuff you got from Home Depot or Lowes
Every day in this wilderness ingrained into her a sense of place, a sense of nature
Reaching for the first log with her backhoe, she eased her future over the foundation wall. Time to build her future.
Putting color onto the canvas brought a smile to his face and chase away his frustrations
As the white disappeared behind his assured strokes, his happiness grew
It was cathartic to brush in his happy little trees standing tall
Nothing could ruin his mood now
This is where all his mistakes were opportunities
So many wires going here and there
More than what is needed right now, but you want to be ready for the future
Oh I know it can get confusing, but that’s okay
Keep track of everything right up here in my big old brain
Except I forgot and now the smoke alarm is going off. Damn!
*a semi-fictitious tale. There was no smoke in my case. lol
Couldn’t care less what you think Miss Know It All!
Rarely does something come out of your mouth that’s worth a damn
And right now isn’t one of those moments
Being the refined person, such that I am, I won’t allow myself to stoop to your level
Because to do so would admit that you put me in a foul temper, but we both know that’s not the case
You just run along now and go to Hell, you hear?
She looked at her client perched on her couch. “Tell me again what’s wrong?”
He didn’t dignify her with a response.
“Really? You don’t want to say anything?”
It didn’t seem to alter his disposition. He closed his eyes to slits and stared at her
Now these were the times she wished she had thought about this if this was the right career for her
Knowing this, would she have not gone into cat psychology? Probably not. Mr. Butters left the couch and jumped onto her lap as if to seal the deal. Purrrrfection!
How high in the air was he right now?
Everything looked like it was so far away
It made him giggle with glee.
Gesturing he asked her, “Is this how you see everything?”
Her slap to his shoulder threw him off balance. “Why did you do that?”
That’s when she took her glasses off his face.
Nothing like the present to start something new
Of course you might fail
When that happens, learn from it and try something again. Never a better time than…
Focusing on what he had lost stole all his spare time and consumed his happiness.
It left him starved for the nourishment that was “The Before”.
Now that she had come into his life, all that was scrambled.
Didn’t get back any spare time, but he was stuffed with happiness
