Clutter rampaged across his mental landscape

Leaving a mess of chaos that scrambled his thoughts

Old ideas mixed with current observations and new connections

Giving him no chance to respond to her questions

Grimacing all he could do was shrug his shoulders

Everything he wanted to say tried to come out at the same time, allowing nothing to escape his lips

Distraught, he knew that job opportunity was lost

Suns spun in their gravitational dance around the galaxy

Planets pulled around and around each of those hot balls of nuclear fire

How amazing it was that the cosmic dance continued since time eternal

Every clear night she looked up at the dancers above

Reveling in the opportunity to study the performance

Embracing the challenge of cyphering out the music

She loved astrophysics

West (an acrostic poem)

Watching the sun make its escape as it sinks beneath the horizon

Everything becomes more magical in that twilight moment

Snippets and whispers of other realms peek from beyond the veil

That opportunity sets as darkness brings down the curtain

Reward (an acrostic poem)

Researching how to solve the problem

Eunice pondered what would be the best method

When she finally decided what she wanted to try

All the things went spectacularly wrong.

Resulting in an amazing learning opportunity

Didn’t realize that this would be her only …

Degree (an acrostic poem)

Diplomas carry so much weight for mere pieces of paper

Everything that goes into them distilled into a few words

Giving the holder the opportunity to advertise themselves

Revealing their skills and knowledge

Experiences woven into the very fibers

Education immortalized in the transient

Ignorance (an acrostic poem)

I look at the strange colorful fluid in front of me

Giving it a sniff I am confused

Never before have I smelled such a thing

Ordinarily I would just pass this opportunity up

Reality is the person handing it to me is so hot

And I really want a chance to go home with them

Now you might say I am a fool for even contemplating this

Certainly you would probably be right

Even I wondered as I closed my eyes and chugged it down
